Our Roots

The GTA Children's Garden is a community garden with the mission to educate and inspire youth through hands-on gardening programs emphasizing nutrition. These programs offer an opportunity for children to learn about sustainability, leadership, and life skills, while serving as good stewards protecting our community and the environment. Established in 1999 on the lake side of the Traverse Area District Library's Main Branch (Woodmere), the garden focuses on teaching children, but is open to visitors of all ages for wandering and inspiration. Please come tour and enjoy the beauty of this public space.

Children's Learning Garden

The Children's Learning Garden consists of 12 raised beds available for use by groups or families to grow primarily annual vegetable and flower plants. Groups receive assistance from our talented garden mentors. The learning garden is always open; feel

free to pop in and see what's happening.
